Department of Industrial, Interior and Craft Design of Musashino Art University and Haier Asia R&D Co., Ltd. started the joint industry-university project in November 2021. The topic of the research is the design study of household electrical appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines, imagining the near future after five to ten years.
The approach taken was the so-called speculative design. Presentations by students, who are part of the generation Z, are not just design ideas, but a vision of the future lifestyle.
This exhibition set its start in order to share these results with the general public. Award-winning designs, display of all the works, scenes from classes, and sketches showing the thinking process will be on display along with the presentation materials.
