Michael Rikio Ming Hee Ho
Michael Rikio Ming Hee Ho (b. 1996, Hawaii, USA), who studied under Barbara Krueger, Andrea Fraser, and other leading artists in the U.S. art scene at UCLA, came to Japan in 2006. Ho's works, which were produced in Japan in 2006, are strongly influenced by Krueger's work and often use text to convey a message. In this exhibition, Ho's large monolithic box-shaped works, which can be said to be his representative characteristics, are different from his previously unpublished works, which reveal his playful and improvisational nature.

The title of this exhibition, "I Must Humbly and Honestly Acknowledge that Things are Really Bad," comes from the foreign media that reported Masayoshi Son's remarks at Softbank's earnings conference this year. As words of resignation in the face of the various issues surrounding our time, they express a social attitude that is shared by the works in this exhibition by Ho.
