Midori Sato "Floating Drapery"

Tomio Koyama Gallery Roppongi
Finished

Artists

Midori Sato
The exhibition will feature new paintings, including large works that exceed 2 meters in length.

Midori Sato's work is associated with closets with colorful clothes, shoe racks with high-heeled shoes, carpets, bright flowers, and fruits. Sato's paintings depict these motifs that most people would find beautiful, and she expresses her admiration for them in a straightforward manner, creating a modern, elegant, imaginary world of vivid colors and imagination.

In this new work, the dress was inspired by the dahlia she actually saw in the dahlia garden, with its multiple layers of dress-like petals, its lovely rows of decorative pompoms, and the way it swayed in the wind. In the early stages of her career, she painted exclusively with acrylic paints, but in the middle of her career, she began to use oil paints in combination with acrylic paints or oil paints exclusively.
