“Pit Lo Sscence” is the first solo exhibition at a gallery in Tokyo by Momoko Yoshida, a painter based in Osaka. Yoshida is an artist who creates a device to share her emotions with viewers by transforming the elation of listening to music and the visual images that come to mind while listening to music into a painting format and confining them.

The process is extremely complex and time-consuming, beginning with the creation of original dolls made from maquettes and mannequins that serve as stage sets for each scene, followed by a video recording of the maquettes and dolls he has created, and then selecting the most appropriate frame from the video and drawing it into a painting. The process is extremely complex and time-consuming.

The artist repeatedly re-captures the footage as necessary, and pursues the ideal cut, much like a film director, in order to obtain the most ideal frame. He creates "scenes" by introducing characters inspired by himself or his close friends on a stage where memories and real-life scenes are blended. He consistently uses thin, highly permeable supports in the production of this series, and is conscious of expressing the characters as if they appeared on the screen like a scene from a movie.

In order to broaden the world of his works, Yoshida has been actively incorporating people he is not acquainted with on social networking services and musicians of the next generation who are younger than he is, in an attempt to create works that are far removed from his own self. In order to express the "emo" of music, which is Yoshida's eternal theme, he gradually switches to a new generation of people and objects that are a gap between himself and them, with the intention of creating more faithful emotions and strengthening his role as a director.

In the process of moving back and forth between maquette, video, and painting, the image is reconstructed, and the final picture, which appears as if projected onto a giant translucent cloth, is distant from what was originally in the artist's mind and beyond his imagination.
