Nana Mori
Nana Mori was born into a family of calligraphers and has been familiar with calligraphy since childhood. This is her second solo exhibition after completing the Graduate School of Advanced Art and Design, Tokyo University of the Arts. In addition to creating artwork, she has been developing her production activities such as live performances, workshops, and lectures, and is currently staying and working on Awashima Island in Kagawa Prefecture as an invited artist for the Setouchi International Art Festival in 2022.
"Moment" is a word that came to Mori when she reflected on her own work. Mori's calligraphic lines, which she has mastered by strictly adhering to the formal essence of calligraphy, "one-time nature," appear as "line" and "form" as soon as the brush lands.
This exhibition introduces the flow of Mori's work from her early to her latest series, centering on "Nucleus," the series that forms the core of her expression, and her latest series, "Calligraphy of Color," in addition to "Calligraphy of Rain," a series that she has been working on since 2008 and is now showing for the first time.
