Nichido Contemporary Art (NCA) is celebrating its 20th anniversary and will be moving from Hatchobori to Roppongi. Until now, NCA has focused its programs on artists from Brazil. The first exhibition at the new location will be "Novos Horizontes (New Perspectives) - Inside Brazil's Contemporary Art Scene Vol. 1", a group exhibition focusing on five internationally active artists from Brazil. These five artists are among the most representative of Brazilian artists, and their work is full of fascination that goes beyond the borders of their respective histories, multifacetedly interweaving cultural climates and sensory expressions such as the tactile sensations, sounds, and heat of tropical regions. The unique and colorful colors, organic forms, and mysterious jungle landscapes appeal to the viewer's mind and body and seem to dispel the sense of stagnation of the COVID-19 pandemic along with the cheerful Latin atmosphere. This exhibition will present recent work as well as new work created especially for this exhibition. This year marks the bicentennial of Brazil's independence and this commemorative exhibition was realized with the cooperation of the Brazilian Embassy in Japan.
