Sokyo Atsumi is pleased to announce "Works 2008-2022", a solo exhibition by Osamu Kojima. This exhibition of the artist, active in the US and Taiwan, will be the first in fifteen years in Tokyo. Along with the "Nostalgia" series, made in Shigaraki, new works showing a different style will be included, and around ten works will be on view. Following the solo shows in Kyoto in 2019 and 2020, this will be the artist's first show at Sokyo Atsumi.
This exhibition will present important works that became turning points for Kojima among his works made between 2008 and 2022. The biggest work in this exhibition, "Nostalgia17-TWt-01", exceeds 1 ton in weight, and was created in the National Tainan University of the Arts in 2017. The material for this work is the farmer's traditional roofing tile from Tainan, which have became a rarer sight due to the change in architectural approach towards the more compact one.
"Nostalgia" series is inspired by the famous Russian film director, Andrey Tarkovsky's "Nostalgia" (1983).
