Paintings Scraped and Scratched

Hiratsuka Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Sanko Inoue, Seiji Chokai, Aguri Uchida, Keizaburo Okamura, Wakana Yamauchi
The act of painting is usually associated with drawing lines and filling them with color. However, the petroglyphs in the cave paintings show us that there is no standard style in the long history of art.
In this exhibition we will introduce total of around 50 works by Sanko Inoue (1899-1981), Seiji Chokai (1902-1972), Aguri Uchida (1949-), Keizaburo Okamura (1958-), and Wakana Yamauchi (1977-) from our collection. In their works we can see scrapped paint or scratched marks used as techniques.
