Punk! The Revolution of Everyday Life

Minatomachi Potluck Building
Finished
Punk is generally associated with noisy music, flashy fashions, and rowdy audiences, but the history of punk reveals the underlying principles of mutual support, positive freedom, self-management, D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself), and other ethics toward others and oneself. Derived from contemporary art and rock, punk has influenced society not only through its musical activities, but also through its unique ethical practices, and has brought about the restoration of humanity and diversity. This exhibition examines the affinity between punk and contemporary art, and the synergy between the two, by capturing the practices and critiques that punk has used to address various social issues.

In addition to the videos and documents that have toured the exhibition so far, a new section will be added to introduce the punks who continue to speak out and take action in the chaos of Myanmar, and the "World Music Festival Under the Bridge" from Toyota, Aichi, which is expanding its activities rooted in daily life, including festivals and farming with music and culture at its core. During the exhibition period, curator's talks and other talk events with invited guests will be held. This is an exhibition to dialogue and think about the future and daily routines.
