During the Edo period (1603-1868), Kyoto saw the production of a large number of painted ceramics, such as the colored ceramics of Ninsei and Kenzan, and the ceramics of the Eiraku family, which copied Chinese ceramics.

This exhibition focuses on ceramics from the museum's collection, including those of the Ninsei and Kenzan families, as well as those of Eiraku and others, which can be said to have copied the styles of their predecessors. While many of the ceramics in the museum collection may be familiar, this exhibition will focus on the world of paintings and patterns.
