Artists

Kojun, Kanji Hasegawa, Yugo Isaji
The first exhibition of Shiko, an artist unit consisting of three artists, Kojun (Jonathan Harlow), Kanji Hasegawa, and Yugo Isaji, will finally be held after a period of preparation in which the three artists exchanged their interests, concepts, materials, and production techniques.

The works of Shiko, which is led by Kojun, frequently feature Buddhist statues as motifs. The word "Buddha image" originally refers to the image of Gautama Siddhartha, who became the Buddha, but the image of the great Buddha, who became the Buddha, was originally thought to be something that could not be expressed by human hands, and even Buddhist biographies in early Indian Buddhist art, such as reliefs depicting the life of the Buddha, never depict the Buddha's image, but only his footprints, his Their presence was only hinted at by linden trees, pedestals, and the like. Later, some 500 or 600 years after the founding of Buddhism, the Buddha's image gradually began to appear in the world in the form of Buddhist statues, but the Buddhist statues presented by Shiko, for example, are not the same as the statues of Buddha that were created in the West, where Buddhist thought had been transmitted to the West through literature and art.
