Shinpei Okawa
After graduating from the University of Tokyo in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in oil painting, Shinpei Okawa has exhibited his work both in Japan and abroad. His work is in the public collection of the Gwangju City Museum of Art in Gwangju, South Korea, and he recently had a solo exhibition in Seoul, South Korea (GALLERY GODO) in 2021 and a successful solo exhibition in Tokyo (UCHIGO and SHIZIMI Gallery) in 2022. He has been active in Tokyo and Seoul as the core of his practice.
This exhibition is his first solo show in Kyoto and features a group of recent works including two new paintings. Supported by his exquisite oil paintings, Okawa's multi-layered world of scenes from his memory and fragments of his personal history and art history will be on display.
