Artists

Shinya Arimoto
This exhibition features vintage prints of Totem Pole founding member Shinya Arimoto's first work "Portrait of Tibet". This work was first exhibited at the Ginza Nikon Salon and the following year it was selected for the 35th Taiyo Prize, which led to Arimoto's first photography book, "Portrait of Tibet", published in 1999. After that, Arimoto continued to publish work on a variety of themes, but the prints he made in his twenties, shortly after his debut, contain a concentration of thoughts that became the starting point for his subsequent creations. Since the 2000s, under the influence of the rapid development of the Chinese economy, the lifestyle and culture of the Tibetan people have also changed remarkably.
