Shoko Uemura "Journey to the Tropics"

Shouhaku Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Shoko Uemura
At the age of 17, Shoko Uemura (1902-2001) was impressed by the works of Mitsuyo Ishizaki, who painted colorful tropical flowers and birds, and after more than 40 years, had the opportunity to visit India, Southeast Asia, and Hawaii. His coverage of tropical flowers and birds, which he had long admired, established his own unique expression and became an important theme in Uemura's art.

The world of tropical flowers and birds, with its layers of strong red and golden colors, carries Uemura's dream of a paradise and invites us into a profound world where life shines brightly.
