Suginami Gakuen, a children's home, has a history of about 90 years, and has stood in the same location for more than 50 years, counting the time since the current school building was constructed. The school building will be demolished in 2022. Due to its age, reconstruction work will begin with completion scheduled for 2024, during which time the facility's functions will be dispersed to group homes in the neighborhood. The lives of the children living there now, the history of the facility, and its relationship with the community will temporarily take its place for about two years.

This project is designed to make that period “without a home” not just a blank space, but a meaningful milestone. Buildings in which many people have lived and worked have many memories and histories woven into their fabric. Although words such as "school" and "facility" may cover it up, it was a "home" and a place of return for many people. The purpose of this exhibition is to create an opportunity to pick up and look at the things that have accumulated and remained there day after day, and to bid farewell to them once and for all.
