Takafumi Hara
Takafumi Hara, an artist who has stayed in various cities around the world to create projects and paintings, decided to stay and create in Ginza this time. This is the first time that the artist has depicted the place of his stay in his work in such a straightforward manner as in this exhibition, even though the subtle changes in the coloring may reflect the local character of the work in a sensual way without being apparent. The artist soaked in the public bath, Kinshunyu, right in front of him while creating the work, and looked at the standing bars of Shimbashi, a sacred place for businessmen, and the scenery of Ginza 8-chome where ladies of the night strut about, etc. These are surreal scenes woven by people. These are surreal scenes woven by people. I have a feeling that for the artist, the driving force for new expression is the reconstruction of fresh shapes, colors, smells, and sounds emitted by these living landscapes. Tow Gallery is located on Kinshun Street, named after the former home of the Kinshun School of Noh theater. The scenery of Kinshun Street, which is home to the Kinshun School, which has the longest history among the five families of Noh, serves as the composition of the work, on which Hara's unique narrative motifs are placed.
