Artists

Lee Yunkyung, Hiroki Tsukiyama
Aiming to nurture the next generation of artists, the Okayama Prefectural Mr. I Development of Rising Artists Award supports the creative activities of up-and-coming artists associated with Okayama Prefecture. To date, 15 Grand Prize winners and 30 Encouragement Prize winners have been selected. Exhibitions of winners' works have been held at the Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art since 2010.

This exhibition features Grand Prize winners for the 11th (FY 2017) and 12th (FY 2018) editions of the awards. Lee Yunkyung draws on traditional dyeing and weaving techniques to create large-scale spaces and objects that evoke life forces. Hiroki Tsukiyama uniquely incorporates Japanese painting and lacquer art techniques in works on the subject of contemporary social phenomena such as stock market fluctuations. See how the creations of these two artists resonate.
