The Beauty of Cloisonne Enamelware

Yokoyama Art Museum
Finished
During the Meiji period (1868-1912), many new arts and crafts were produced by Japanese craftsmen, and the foreign currency earned from their export became the foundation for constructing a modern nation. Much later, after crossing the sea, cloisonne enamelware returned to its homeland and is now being rediscovered. This exhibition features cloisonne enamelware mainly from the Meiji period, which at the time fascinated the West with its unique and elegant techniques.
