The Clothesline with Sister

Shibuya Parco
Finished

Artists

Mónica Mayer
“The Clothesline" was first presented by Mónica Mayer, a pioneer of feminist art, at the Museo de Arte Moderno in 1978. It has since been held in various locations around the world. In this participatory art project, people anonymously write on slips of paper that are then hung on a clothesline and exhibited. The project aims to highlight the "voiceless voices" buried in the world, to visualize the imbalance between genders, and to engage in dialogue.

The clothing boutique Sister will produce merchandise in collaboration with The Clothesline project. A portion of the proceeds will fund the donation of gender-related books to libraries, with all other proceeds going to Our Clothesline with Mónica Mayer.

Location: Shibuya Parco 1F "COMINGSOON"

Other location: Sister shop (3/12–3/31). Participation is free and open to all. Submissions are also accepted by email. Please see the official website for details.
