Artists

Toshiaki Hikosaka
Toshiaki Hikosaka is an artist who focuses on creating mechanisms for people and people, or people and things to share time and space. He collaborates with others to slowly and gradually construct a "place," carefully confirming the existence of others and things that are decidedly different from himself.

In conceiving this exhibition, Hikosaka focused on the "sand" that lies beneath our feet. From the preparation stage, he and his companion touched, picked up, and checked the "sand" and brought back the sensations and thoughts associated with it. Sand is an everyday substance, yet it is ever-changing and elusive. In this way, countless small "sand stories" about "sand," which have no clear answers, were accumulated.

In the exhibition room, a sandbox is set up where visitors can actually touch and feel the sand and walk on it. In addition, the gallery will be filled with images and small works related to "sand," creating a "place" for people to gather together. Each visitor to this exhibition will surely take home a small "story of sand" with them.
