Artists

Yoichi Umezu
This exhibition, "New Romancer," consists entirely of new drawings by Yoichi Umezu, who has just finished his solo exhibition, "Polynator," at the Watari-um Museum of Contemporary Art.

The next exhibition at Light Seed Gallery was to be a group show of California artists selected by Barry McGee, but it had to be postponed due to shipping delays caused by COVID-19. This led to an urgent request to Umezu for the exhibition. Umetsu used the Watari-um Museum of Contemporary Art office as his studio and completed 20 drawings in three days.

In fact, a number of artists, including Nam June Paik and Fabrice Ibert, have made spontaneous and improvisational drawings at the Watari-um office in the past. These works are immediately reflected in the exhibition and have accentuated the contemporaneity and live atmosphere of the exhibition.
