This exhibition celebrates the release of "Interlude," a collection of works by photographer Yuki Kumagai to be released by Lula Japan's publishing label, Lula Books. Kumagai is a sought-after photographer who has worked for brand campaigns and fashion magazines as well as producing advertisements and portraits of artists. "Interlude” comprises a collection of his past work and marks a decade in his career as a photographer. His subjects include the lines and textures of the human body, hazy and sandy beaches, human figures, surging water, the figure of a child somewhere, people standing in a line, wrinkled hands, constellations, babies. The images he has captured over the past five years since becoming independent from his teacher Osamu Yokonami are so deeply connected to his personal memories that he clearly remembers the episodes associated with each of them. As the title of the exhibition suggests, the photographs have an anonymity that resists definition. They are connected to the viewer's senses in a way that transcends language. This exhibition will feature approximately 30 works emanating a mysterious and intense beauty marking a milestone in Kumagai’s career.
