Sakura City Museum of Art collects works by artists with ties to Sakura City and Chiba Prefecture. This exhibition features "Hikawa Village" by Chu Asai (1856-1907), a painter associated with Sakura City, as well as works from a collection once owned by Kokou Sugibayashi (1881-1913), a noted lacquer artist and acquaintance of Asai. Other exhibits include the works of painter Bonpei Takahashi (1923-2015), who was active in the Sakura Art Association, the sculptor Ko Kubo (1932–), and the ceramicist Katsuji Uwataki (1941–). These works newly acquired in 2021 will be the focus of the exhibition. Also on view for the first time is a scrapbook by Donge Kobayashi (1926-), a copperplate artist based in Inzai City, Chiba Prefecture.
