Akira Wada
Akira Wada (1978-) was born in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, moved with his family to Sakura City when he was in elementary school and continues to make pottery there. He was selected for the 41st Exhibition of New Works of Traditional Crafts (East Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition) for the first time. In 2007, he won the Japan Craftsmen's Society Prize at the 35th New Ceramic Works Exhibition (Traditional Crafts Ceramic Division Exhibition) and has steadily built a career as a ceramic artist, winning awards at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, Kikuchi Biennale, Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, Paramita Ceramic Grand Prize Exhibition, and many other publicly-commended exhibitions. He has steadily built a career as a ceramic artist and is now considered one of Japan's leading contemporary ceramic artists.

Wada also works with FRP and stainless steel, and in the field of sculpture, he has demonstrated a wide range of talents, winning an award at the 24th UBE Biennial (Contemporary Japanese Sculpture Exhibition) in 2011. This exhibition introduces his copperplate prints and sculptures, as well as his ceramic works, in which he has mastered the art of carving and shaping.
