66th SBI Art Auction | Modern and Contemporary Art

Daikanyama Hillside Forum
Finished
This auction will take place over the weekend, with a preview exhibition running for five days. Additionally, on Thursday, July 4, the preview exhibition hours will be extended, featuring the "Thursday Lates Powered by Sakejump" event. This event, in collaboration with Camo, a company that hosts festivals for young brewers such as "Wakate no Yoake," will offer attendees the opportunity to enjoy delicious sake from emerging brewers.

The sale will feature a diverse array of modern and contemporary artworks. Among the highlights is Keith Haring's "Untitled (Surfboard)," a piece that vividly embodies the spirit of summer. The auction will also showcase works by Yayoi Kusama, a leading figure in Japanese contemporary art, including paintings such as "Pumpkin," as well as mixed media, ceramics, and silkscreens, offering a glimpse into Kusama's ambitious creative endeavors.

In contrast to these vibrant pieces, the auction will also feature serene works that provide a refreshing respite from the summer heat. Highlights include sculptures like Nobuo Sekine's "Phase of Nothingness - Cutting Stone," Katsuhiko Narita's "Sumi," and Izumi Kato's plant-like "Untitled," as well as Wolfgang Tillmans' "Sahara Reflex," which captures the essence of the desert. The auction will also include notable photographic works by artists such as Helmut Newton, Ikko Narahara, and Henri Cartier-Bresson, promising to captivate viewers with their visual allure.
