Kagai Hatano excelled in the genre known as "Nanga," depicting flowers, birds, and landscapes based on her knowledge of Chinese classics. Her studio attracted pupils of all ages and genders. This year marks the 80th anniversary of her passing.

Hatano's artwork is renowned for its powerful brushwork and vibrant color schemes. Through interactions with teachers and literati from various regions, she tackled a wide range of subjects from dynamic compositions to delicate details.

Since childhood, Hatano left behind numerous sketches and letters, carefully preserved by her descendants, offering insights into the life of this painter.
