Accidentally Wes Anderson

Shibuya Hikarie Hall
FinishedReservation Required
This new exhibition is based on "Accidentally Wes Anderson (AWA)," an Instagram community with over 1.88 million followers* that collects landscape photographs that embody the world of film director Wes Anderson's works. When the exhibition was held in Korea, it captured the hearts of millennials, attracting 250,000 visitors, and made its first appearance in Japan in April 2023. (*As of October 12, 2023)

The venue is composed of more than 300 photographic works that simulate the journey of people visiting secret places around the world. The nostalgic and photogenic world of AWA's work, with its "pop pastel colors" and "symmetrical compositions," characteristic of Wes Anderson's work, will remind you of the charm of travel that has eluded you for some time.

At the first exhibition in Japan at the Terada Warehouse G1 Building (Tennozu, Tokyo), visitors to the venue, where all works could be photographed and filmed, posted a series of "Wes Anderson-esque" images and videos on social networking sites, creating quite a buzz. Comments such as, "It made me want to go on a trip," "The exhibition gave me a new sensation as if I had stepped inside the works," and "The world view was thrilling," flooded the social networking sites.
