Sometimes smoothly, sometimes sharply—have you ever encountered a work that brings inspiration? In Oscar Wilde’s novel, there is a scene where a painter describes a boy as “a dream of thought that stimulates new imagination.” What if we consider the symbolic existence of a boy as art?This is the beginning of the project.

Ai Sano creates majestic, elegant dragons and mythical beasts, as if in conversation with marble shaped by nature, pursuing beauty that cannot be seen. Saori Masuda’s works feature subdued, beautiful colors, eloquent brushwork, and a nostalgic quality that gently envelops the viewer.

Two artists from completely different genres come together in this project, taking “black” as their starting point. Light and shadow, the night sky that follows twilight… the visual, sensory, and material dimensions of the color “black.” Enjoy the record of the two artists’ thoughts, rooted in the many facets of “black.”
