Artists

Akihito Takuma
Akihito Takuma was born in Kumamoto in 1966. He has been creating paintings based on the concept of slipping through dichotomies, quoting the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze's (1925-1995) "escape line." Before the oil paint dries, he uses a long self-made brush to scrape the entire canvas from the top in one stroke, and his work is complete only when he feels that he has gently blended the opposing axes in the emerging picture plane.

In the course of his consistent concept, he has expressed various abstract motifs and landscapes such as deserts, horizons, cherry blossoms, and cities in black and white, but this time he will introduce mainly new color works, which he started showing last year.
