This time, Shu Yonezawa, who is not only an artist but also a rising animator, will serve as the exhibition curator for the first time. Yonezawa is particularly noted for his focus on the technique of "obake" (afterimage expression) in animation. He creates and presents works that explore the physicality of characters in animation, the emotional and physical nature of living beings in the real world, and the atmosphere of the spaces that characters inhabit, using various mediums beyond animation. His activities extend beyond contemporary art, including organizing music events.
Since its opening last November, Wall_alternative has been operating with the concept of being a "hub where new movements are born by intersecting diverse cultures with art and music at its core." This time, through an exhibition and events curated from Yonezawa’s perspective, Wall_alternative aims to create a space where people from various backgrounds can gather and foster new communication.
To commemorate the event, an opening event will be held on two consecutive days, Friday, July 5, and Saturday, July 6. The artist will be present, and there will also be a music live event organized by Yonezawa.
