Animals in African Art

African Art Museum
Until Sep 9
African art often features animals, divided into two main types: realistic depictions and imaginative spirit combinations. Animals can represent spirits, messengers, or royalty symbols. Sculptures don't aim for European realism but exaggerate animal characteristics. Different ethnic groups represent animal combinations uniquely, some without knowing their origins. The exhibition will introduce a variety of African art with animal themes.
