Kurumi Wakaki
The Arts and Culture Village Creation invites artists engaged in advanced initiatives to participate in production and presentation, while opening up the creative process. For Vol. 6, they are hosting the artist and printmaker Kurumi Wakaki.

Wakaki's artworks are captivating, often prompting exclamations like "I see..." and "Interesting!" They are underpinned by solid technique and utilize features such as replication, transfer, and inversion to expand the possibilities of printmaking. Above all, there is a vibrant energy in her work, where she joyfully converts the ups and downs of daily life into creative energy. Grounded in technique yet unrestrained, Wakaki tirelessly pursues the "fun" of creation.

In high school, Wakaki once dreamed of becoming a restorer. Visiting the cultural heritage restoration and exhibition building at the Nara History, Arts and Culture Village, where cultural assets' restoration workshops are open year-round, revived that aspiration. In this project, she transforms her studio into a restoration workshop and engages in restoration work (production), simulating the role of a restorer. It's also an opportunity for Wakaki to attempt her own "restoration."

Throughout the period, there will be daily open production sessions alongside artwork exhibitions. While access to real restoration workshops is restricted, visitors can interact with Wakaki, playing the role of a restorer here. Witness the transformation of creation, the exhibition, and the place of practice.
