Ball Gag
The term "Hype Loop" in the title of this exhibition refers to the 'circular interaction between technology and humans,' which denotes a series of cyclical processes where the intelligence in machines influences human behavior and vice versa.

Through machine intelligence, human actions are sensed and analyzed, leading to the recommendation of information. Humans then respond to these recommendations made by machines, making choices that in turn influence machine intelligence, creating a loop structure. This is a prominent process in the current landscape of the internet and social media.

An important point in this description is that within the space of social media, humans are not only unconsciously narrowing their range of choices through the 'recommendation of information' made by machines but also, this narrowing of choices can be seen as a purification (=core) of accepted information.

Ball Gag examines the environment (=architecture, in a narrow sense, platforms) that induces such purification of information, the way it influences various real-world actors (factors), and the aesthetics (purified taste = core) found within it, along with the groups that adhere to it, in a metaphorical and sculptural manner.

This exhibition marks the first solo exhibition for Ball Gag, where we will be showcasing the series of works titled "Kaimen," which began production in 2020 and concluded in 2022.

These series of images can also be viewed as documentation of the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath that occurred during the same period.
