Beams Cultuart Presents Kenji Misawa

B Gallery

Artists

Kenji Misawa
The artist, who majored in oil painting at Tama Art University and studied under the guidance of Yoshishige Saito, is a representative artist of the naturalist approach. While collaborating with fellow alumni such as Nobuo Sekine and Kishio Sugaki, who also pursued naturalism, he chose a different approach, creating works that combine natural and artificial objects through techniques such as collage and assemblage, aiming for a "harmony of disharmony."

Furthermore, based on this concept, Misawa has worked on large-scale sculptural pieces with connections to society, and over 100 of his public art pieces have been installed throughout Japan, including the Sculpture Garden at Iwaki City Art Museum and the Ishigami Park Ikechuo Monument. Since his brain surgery in 2019, Misawa has begun working on a new series of abstract works. Centered around the abstract painting series "New Horizon," which depicts cross-sections of memories from his travels to 60 countries around the world, he will exhibit and sell his abstract three-dimensional works that combine natural and artificial objects at B Gallery.
