Byobyo is an exhibition by a group of young Nihonga (Japanese-style painting) artists. Since 2001, it has been held by young Nihonga painters who are active in various venues such as Nitten, Soga-kai, Inten, and as independents. In addition to an annual exhibition in Tokyo, smaller exhibitions are held at department stores and galleries. The term "byobyo" means "vast and boundless." Each member, with their different styles and perspectives on painting, creates and exhibits their work with the hope of capturing something through mutual stimulation and improvement.
