Eitoeiko is pleased to announce the exhibition Cherry Blossom Party which will start on April 8 and it will run through April 29. Originally, Cherry Blossom Party was held at Shinjuku Gyoen from 1952 to 2019 under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Japan. The exhibition of the same name was started by our gallery in 2020 after the event was canceled due to suspicions of violations of the Public Offices Election Law, the Political Funds Control Law, and the Public Records Management Law, etc. This year, 2023, is the fourth edition of the event has been held. The exhibition, which has been held three times in the past and has been attended by many artists, aims to be a “cultural” cherry blossom viewing party and has presented various works approaching the individual and collective petals of sakura trees that bloom in early spring from a variety of angles, including color and form, words taken from stories and words related to sakura, and history. This year, two artists from Mexico have been selected to participate in the exhibition. The exhibition will feature more than a dozen sculptures, ceramics, photographs, and three-dimensional works that evoke “sakura" or "Cherry Blossom Party" from multiple perspectives by seven artists. We look forward to your visit.
