Chiaki Kobayashi
This will be Chiaki Kobayashi's third solo exhibition at Voilld, following her solo exhibition "Throw" in 2022.

Born in Fukushima in 1996, Kobayashi graduated from Musashino Art University. She is active as a graphic designer and illustrator, and also creates artwork as an artist, expanding her field of activity with various expressions. and original items.

Kobayashi creates drawings with her unique expression, simplified by simple, beautiful, and single lines, reminiscent of computer graphics, using ordinary scenes and scenes of daily life, daily necessities, food, and other familiar objects as motifs. Graphical motifs drawn with a minimum of elements are brought to life by her spotlight and seem to remind of small, poignant moments in daily life.

In this exhibition titled "Catch," the artist focuses on the sense of what is received and cherished in a world that becomes a little more open, where awareness and perspective broaden with the sphere of activity, and where the daily overflow of various information and things is encountered. The motifs in Kobayashi's paintings in this exhibition also show her daily life from a slightly different perspective- lakeside, mountains, trees swaying in the wind, vases by the window, salad and wine at the dining table, apples and juice in the shopping basket, cityscapes and cafes on a trip, airplanes circling the globe, and so on. Although they are quietly and unobtrusively present in each work, the clear, well-chosen lines that capture the characteristics of the motifs and landscapes express such a strong vitality and dignified presence that one can almost smell the scent and feel the atmosphere of the scenes she has seen.

The richness of the calm and peaceful everyday life and the brightness of the small joys and discoveries that occur within it are made even more vivid by her frank and perceptive sensibility and speak to the viewer of their irreplaceability strongly and impressively.
