Chie Koda
Since graduating from Tama Art University in 2007 with a major in oil painting, Chie Koda has immersed herself in various places and spaces in Japan and abroad, becoming a part of these places and people's daily lives as she paints.

In recent years, she has made his home and studio, where she lives with her family, the base of his activities, and has been practicing a method similar to fixed-point observation, capturing the scenery from the window daily.

Koda's paintings, which depict the context of life through the act of "looking" at nature, the city, and people, have a phase of "seeing." In her images, which pass through her own body, the multiple viewpoints and time-space inherent in the paintings quietly collide with each other while vibrating with each other, revealing the power of life. The heterogeneous elements she handles, which should be heterogeneous by nature, are mysteriously balanced in her tableau. Koda's paintings are not necessarily bound by the information conventionally required of the viewer but are open to each viewer's "seeing" based on his or her own raw experience.

For this exhibition, Koda chose still life, an object that does not move, as his motif. At the time when still life painting was established as a genre of Western painting, it was sometimes derogatorily called "Still Life," and it was also a liberation from religious painting, which had been mainstream in the Western world until then. The table set up in the gallery space was set up for the exhibition.

On a table set up in the gallery space, several objects, each of which belongs to a different owner, are arranged. How will the relationships and time-space that she weaves with the people she spends time with and meets again in front of her paintings be layered there?
