Chiharu Mizukawa "Root Flowers"

Gallery Maruhi
Finished

Artists

Chiharu Mizukawa
Chiharu Mizukawa has been working on aburidashi since 2006. Aburidashi is a painting technique that uses water and fire to create a pattern and was originally an indoor activity for children in winter. However, Mizukawa uses this technique as a new Japanese painting.
In this exhibition, a theme of "root" is derived from the warehouse of Gallery Maruhi, which dates back to the Taisho period, and seasonal flowers growing from the roots. Since the roots are spread out like underground water veins, Mizukawa sees them as both premonition and existence.
