Cindy Mochizuki
Cindy Mochizuki is a Vancouver-based artist who creates multimedia installations, audio works, performances, and animations. Mochizuki, a fourth-generation Japanese Canadian, uses lyrical and spatial composition and direction to show how Japanese immigrants settled in Canada, a new land, and how they later survived despite being caught up in history's great vortex.

The exhibition features two of Mochizuki's most recent animated works. Tides & Moons: Herring Capital (2022) explores the development of the Japanese Canadian herring fishery and herring processing industry in Nanaimo. "Autumn Strawberry" (2021) interweaves various episodes of real and fictional Japanese Canadians who worked on strawberry farms in the Fraser Valley area.
