Collection Exhibition: Seasonal Calendar - Fragrant Breeze of Summer

Menard Art Museum
Finished
A seasonal calendar refers to a book that records seasonal events and nature throughout the year, explaining and categorizing haiku seasonal words. Since ancient times, the Japanese people have been familiar with the four seasons, capturing the changing appearance of nature on scrolls, folding screens, and crafts, and decorating their indoor spaces as seasonal adornments. This exhibition consists of three seasonal exhibitions held throughout the year, allowing visitors to enjoy the seasonal landscapes and transitions depicted in the collection as if turning the pages of a seasonal calendar.

The second installment features approximately 60 pieces of Japanese paintings, Western-style paintings, and crafts portraying various aspects of summer. This exhibition gathers artworks evoking different aspects of summer, including crafts reminiscent of lush new greenery, flowers blooming proudly in the heat, verdant mountain landscapes, and the refreshing air by the water's edge.
