Hasegawa Machiko Art Museum / Hasegawa Machiko Memorial Museum
Finished
Hasegawa Machiko Art Museum was closed for renovation work from November 28, 2022 (Mon.) to February 28, 2023 (Tue.). The first exhibition after the renovation is titled "The Four Seasons of Japan," and will feature works from the museum's collection of 788 works on the themes of spring, summer, fall, and winter to introduce the beauty of the four seasons in Japan.

For spring, the exhibition showcases a selection of cherry blossom masterpieces, including Kaii Higashiyama's "Spring Calling Hill,” from the White Horse series, and Yuji Misu's "Blooming" depicting waterfall cherry blossoms in Miharu, Fukushima Prefecture. Featured for summer are Haruo Kitano's "In Summer” which depicts a green road covered with grass, while "Dream" by Miyuki Ito depicts fireworks in the summer night sky. In autumn, Mari Hirako depicts wild deer standing amidst autumn leaves in “Aki-bae Yuru" and Yoko Mitsuhashi captured birds flying high in the sky through the leaves and branches of a ginkgo tree in “Sora e". In winter, "Snow" and "Yukino Rindo" by Matazo Kayama depict a silvery-white world, and "Kushiro" and "Kushiro Marsh" by Katashi Oyama depict animals that are tough enough to survive in the snowfield.
