Petit Palais de Genève was founded in 1968 under the philosophy of "art in the service of peace" by businessman Oscar Gèze and has a rich collection of mainly modern French paintings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Since his death in 1998, the museum has been closed and not open to the public, but it continues to cooperate with exhibitions worldwide. This exhibition, the first time in 30 years that the museum's masterpieces have been exhibited in Japan, brings 63 oil paintings by 38 artists from the museum's diverse collection.
In Paris from the late 19th to the early 20th century, various artistic styles and movements developed, creating new trends in art history. The exhibition will feature a collection of masterpieces from the Impressionist, Neo-Impressionist, Naviste, Fauvism, Cubism, and Ecole de Paris, as well as the trajectory of modern French painting.
