The year 2021, marked 20 years since the opening of the museum and 10 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Contemporary art is the expression of artists who live in the same era as we do, and it reflects a cross-section of the various issues we are facing. This exhibition introduces contemporary artists associated with Iwate who have been selected by each of the museum's curators for their attention. The exhibition traces how the artists have understood our world, which has changed dramatically in the 10 years since the earthquake, through their works, and also presents the latest works of these artists who are working "now" in Iwate.
