Since the 1960s, glassmaking as an art form has seen worldwide expansion, producing diverse works rooted in bold ideas, new techniques, and regional traditions.

In Japan, since the 1970s, the increase in individual studios, enhanced educational institutions, and exhibitions in museums have contributed to a thriving glass art scene. Recently, Japan has become a leading force in international glass art. Otaru, known for its glass industry since the Meiji era, including float and lamp production, saw the emergence of glass shops, studios, and museums starting in the 1970s, earning it national recognition as the "City of Glass."

This exhibition showcases the latest works of 35 prominent contemporary Japanese glass artists. Enjoy the diverse charm and rich potential of Japan's latest glass art, and further explore the allure of Otaru, the Glass City.
