The first half of the talk will feature reports from Akito Akagi, a lacquer artist from Wajima who has visited Akita many times, on the history of the lacquer industry in Noto-Wajima and the current situation of the damage.

Hiroki Settsu, who also trained in Wajima, will discuss the similarities and differences between Wajima and Kawatsura lacquerware, as well as exchange opinions on future collaboration and cooperation both within and outside the region.

In the latter half, Hajime Tamura, who was affected by the disaster in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture, in 2011, will reflect on the situation and his feelings at that time. He will also raise questions about his role and activities as an artist during disasters and about support for such activities.

Yusuke Sato has frequently donated his own sake from his brewery. What role does he think sake breweries play in the community?
