"Cultivation of Heaven and Earth" is an art production project undertaken collaboratively by the brothers Makoto and Wataru Murakami, along with Yuji Yamamoto. This exhibition traces the activities of "Cultivation of Heaven and Earth," which was based in the former Hiki District (now Hamamatsu City) and operated from 1988 to 2003.

The project, "Cultivation of Heaven and Earth," primarily focused on outdoor locations away from urban areas. Using natural materials such as wood, rope, stones, and soil, they created elaborate works of art. Like folklorists or archaeologists (or, in their words, like ants), they conducted fieldwork on traditional performing arts and historical sites, delving into fundamental themes such as life and death.

However, due to limited public access and exhibition periods, the cultivated works of art remained unseen by many. This exhibition aims to reveal the entirety of "Cultivation of Heaven and Earth's" activities through photographs, videos, and valuable documents. Additionally, in the museum's backyard, the unrealized outdoor artwork plan from 2003 will be brought to life, providing a unique opportunity to witness "Cultivation of Heaven and Earth" in action.
