Dean Bowen
Dean Bowen (born in 1957) is a popular artist based in Melbourne, Australia, who has been making remarkable achievements. In his works, there is a sense of humor where contemporary civilization meets the primitive, with the horizon beyond urban traffic jams being traversed by marching stick figures resembling harlequins. Furthermore, his world, akin to a page from a picture book, features birds chirping, dogs roaming, and stars streaking across the night sky in the wilderness, where love for small lives coexists with awe for the vast universe. Dean Bowen's highly distinctive creations have garnered attention not only for their unique imagery but also as a representation of Australia. In 2023, as one of Australia's leading contemporary artists, large-scale touring exhibitions of Dean Bowen were held at the Gunma Museum of Modern Art and the Tokushima Modern Art Museum, further endearing his majestic yet adorable works to many people in Japan.

This exhibition marks Dean Bowen's long-awaited solo exhibition at Gallery Miyawaki, which has been showcasing his works since he was relatively unknown in 1995. It includes approximately 50 pieces of recent and new works, including oil paintings, watercolors, and prints, some of which were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, offering a mini-retrospective.
