Japanese department stores like Takashimaya have evolved through history, from becoming major stores in the Taisho era to opening Japan's first suburban shopping center in 1969. Today, Takashimaya focuses on urban development. This exhibition explores the past, present, and future of department stores through themes of "advertising," "clothing," "lifestyle," and "urban space."
