Artists

Dick Bruna
Known as the creator of the beloved children's book character "Miffy (Usako-chan)," Dick Bruna published his first picture book, "De Appel (The Apple Tree)" (first edition), in 1953. He followed this with the publication of "Nijntje (Little Bunny)" (first edition) in 1955, and throughout his lifetime, he released over 120 picture books.

This exhibition commemorates the 70th anniversary of Bruna's picture books in 2023. The exhibition will not only focus on Miffy but also highlight other works by Bruna, including the adventurous bear boy series "Boris," the piglet "Poppy" inspired by Bruna's children's teacher, the brave dog "Snuffy," and fairy tale series like "Snow White." It will delve into the design work and humor common to Bruna's picture book creations, exploring beyond Miffy to showcase the breadth of his artistic legacy.
